The FRESH Study – The FResh Bucks Economic IncentiveS and Health outcomes study – is a mixed-methods evaluation of the Fresh Bucks program, a fruit and vegetable incentive program in Seattle, Washington. We draw upon community-based participatory research methods to evaluate the implementation and impact of Fresh Bucks. We aim to answer the following questions:

  • What is the impact of the Fresh Bucks program on fruit and vegetable intake and food security?
  • Which Fresh Bucks Program strategies contribute to improved implementation and positive experiences for Fresh Bucks customers?
  • What is the impact of long-term participation in Fresh Bucks on cardiometabolic health?

Fresh Bucks is administered by the Office of Sustainability and Environment at the City of Seattle. More information about the program’s administration can be found here.
