HSPop alum receives Fulbright award to study abortion access in Mexico
Blair Darney (HSERV PhD ’12) was recently awarded the 2023-2024 Garcia Robles COMEXUS/Fulbright award to study abortion access in Mexico. Darney’s work is particularly pressing given that 20% of mothers in Mexico are adolescents, and Latin America is the only region in the world where under-15 births are increasing.

Rural Water Initiative for Climate Action improves water access and equity in Uganda
Laura C. Streichert (COPHP MPH ‘05) partnered to start a nonprofit to address water access and equity in rural Uganda.

Bradywood reflects upon first year as Washington State Board of Nursing Executive Director
In May, HSPop Alum Alison Bradywood took over as Executive Director of the Washington State Board of Nursing. She has continued to advocate for nurses and patients in this role, including by drafting the HB 2416: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Title Protection, which Governor Inslee signed into law on April 3rd.
