Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Health Information Management
Prepare for a Dynamic Career
2 Years / Seattle, WA
Technology is transforming health care, giving providers access to information that helps them deliver better and more cost-efficient care. The University of Washington Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Health Information Management (HIHIM) program provides students with the necessary skills to launch their careers in the dynamic fields of health informatics and health information management.
The major is delivered in an in-person format with hybrid format components, with students attending classes in the early evening on the Seattle campus for two days each week.

Earn the Credentials
We’ll prepare you to become a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Learn how to manage patient records, develop IT solutions, and analyze data.

Enter a Fast-Growing Field
Health services management is among the nation’s fastest-growing occupations. UW HIHIM graduates are prepared to work in a variety of in-demand roles.

Learn on a Flexible Schedule
Because classes start in the early evening, you can fit the UW HIHIM program around other important commitments in your life, including your job and family.

Gain Practical Experience
For their capstone, students matched with a Seattle-area health care organization and gain experience in areas such as systems analysis and problem-solving.

“Completing the RHIA certification made a big statement to my current employer. The greater Seattle area can be a competitive market, and many employers are looking to hire credentialed candidates.”
