The University of Washington’s Master of Health Informatics and Health Information Management (MHIHIM) program will update its program schedule beginning with the Autumn 2026 cohort.
Synchronous class sessions will meet five Saturdays each quarter, online or in-person. In addition, students will attend a weekly webinar each Thursday evening.
“It’s never been easier to earn your Master of HIHIM degree,” said director of UW’s HIHIM programs Dr. Karima Lalani. “This new schedule is indicative of our efforts to offer a student-focused program, accessible to anyone regardless of their geographic location or work schedule.”
Students can still choose to attend classes either virtually or in-person, and all classes are presented with live instruction, whether attending in-person or online. The new schedule will be implemented at the start of the Autumn 2026 quarter.
“This new schedule is indicative of our efforts to offer a student-focused program, accessible to anyone regardless of their geographic location or work schedule.”
-Dr. Karima Lalani, director of HIHIM programs
This schedule change is designed to better accommodate students, especially those who work full-time or those who are searching for new roles. With rising demand for health informatics professionals in the workforce, this new format will make our program more accessible for students to learn the skills they need to be future digital health leaders without putting their career on hold.
“Our incoming students have been really excited to learn about this new schedule,” said Dr. Lalani. “Now they can save their time off to celebrate the next phase of their career after graduation instead of using it to attend class sessions.”
The UW’s MHIHIM program is accredited by both the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
