Bio
Dr. Mangione-Smith’s goal as a researcher is to help narrow the quality gaps that exist in pediatric healthcare. More specifically, through her research program, she designs and conducts studies to measure health care quality and then, based on those assessments, develops and tests interventions aimed at improving pediatric care. Her currently funded research focuses on testing the effectiveness of a communication-based intervention to improve antibiotic prescribing practices in the pediatric outpatient setting (NICHD); and development and testing of two pediatric quality measure sets, one for hospital-to-home transitions and the other for emergency department and inpatient mental health care (AHRQ)
