Research Interests
Dr. Garofalo’s research centers health equity for children and adolescents through the implementation of Whole Person healthcare in the school setting. He is currently co-investigator on a large evaluation study of the King County school-based clinics, identifying potential differences in service utilization by race/ethnicity and school setting.
Bio
Luciano Garofalo received his doctorate in naturopathic medicine and a master of science in medical research at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR, where his clinical training was focused in integrative primary care, pediatrics, and mental health. He completed a 3-year research fellowship in the UW Department of Child, Family, and Population Health Nursing, funded by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health at the NIH.
Dr. Garofalo currently collaborates on research concerning school-based health centers in partnership with HsPop and PHSKC. He is a co-founder of Link Community Clinic, a non-profit family medicine clinic in Tacoma, where he practices pediatric primary care. Dr. Garofalo is certified as an Autism Center of Excellence with the Washington State Health Care Authority and reserves a large part of his practice for children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
