Bio
Genya Shimkin (she/they) is Practicum Director for the Online MPH program, and Associate Director/Capstone Director for the Community-Oriented Public Health Practice MPH program. Genya is also faculty Department of Family Medicine at the UW School of Medicine, developing curriculum and programming for medical students as an Assistant Teaching Professor. Finally, Genya is founder and CEO of Q Card Project, which works to improve communication and relationships between LGBTQ+ youth and healthcare providers. In research and practice, Genya’s interests include LGBTQ+ health, harm reduction, health justice, and anti-oppression frameworks for health promotion.
