Bio

Anya Nartker, MPH, is Online Education Manager for the Department of Global Health’s E-learning Program (eDGH) where she oversees professional development online courses aimed at increasing access to high quality education and expertise for health professionals in over 65 low and middle income countries. She also supports DGH faculty in creating graduate and undergraduate distance learning courses for University of Washington students.

After receiving her BA in Medical Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University, Anya worked in several public health capacities including agriculture in Costa Rica, education in Japan and Slovakia, vaccination in Nicaragua, and women’s health care in the U.S.   Anya went on to earn a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Washington, where she researched adolescent reproductive health issues in a Roma community in Spain through a FLAS Fellowship and designed and piloted sexual health education curricula for Seattle Public Schools.  Following graduate studies, Anya worked with I-TECH for six years as a Training Program Developer, leading projects in Tanzania, India, Vietnam, Mozambique and Trinidad and Tobago. 

Anya has over 10 years of experience in designing and evaluating e-learning and blended learning programs for health professionals across the globe. She has collaborated with a variety of stakeholders including ministries of health, foreign universities, and international NGOs to manage the development and implementation of engaging online courses, lead assessments and pilots as well as build organizational and staff capacity to adopt and scale up e-learning efforts. Anya holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Washington and has published articles and presented at numerous conferences on effective blended learning program design and research.
