Bio
Patience is a physician and public health leader whose interest lies in understanding how social drivers of health influence healthcare access among individuals in historically marginalized communities. Using the lens of social justice and equity, she advocates for change in her community through research that highlights gaps in healthcare access and makes targeted recommendations to improve policies and practices.
At UW Medicine, she supports the Maternal Mortality Review Program Across Washington by coordinating community convenings and Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) sessions aimed at reducing maternal mortality risks and improving perinatal care in the state.
She is also the Founder of Teen Health Ghana, a nonprofit advancing adolescent health in Ghana through health education, advocacy, and access to care, with programs that empower young people to make informed choices and advocate for their rights.
