Kailani Amine |MHA 2022

Kailani Amine is a Director at the Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WCAAP). She oversees the Washington Child Health Improvement Partnership (WA-CHIP) with key partners to advance the health and well-being of all children in the state. She is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of clinic-facing initiatives and community engagement strategies that are informed by pediatric providers and community voices.

Prior to joining WCAAP, Kailani worked at Shriners Children’s Hawaii supporting their Rehabilitation Services Department and Plant Facilities Department. She earned a bachelor’s degree in public health at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Washington.

During her time in the program, Kailani led the University of Washington MHA case competition team at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, placing third out of 41 nationally accredited teams in 2022. Kailani is excited to create meaningful opportunities and foster community for MHA alumni and current students.

Abisayo Ariwoola | MHA 2019

Abisayo Ariwoola is an experienced leader with proven success in streamlining operations and scaling innovative health care products. Abisayo is a project manager on Sutter Health’s Design & Innovation team, focused on scaling the health system’s first endeavor in value-based primary care. She has successfully expanded Tera, a virtual primary care model that leverages a care team consisting of a provider, nurse, advanced practitioner, and health coach. Previously, Abisayo completed an administrative fellowship with Sutter Health’s Surgery Center Division and walk-in care service lines. She also served as the interim assistant administrator of Stanislaus Surgical Hospital. During her time, she was able to stabilize the hospital’s core operations, manage the off-site imaging center and consolidate hospital-owned leases.

Abisayo holds a bachelor’s degree with certificates in entrepreneurship and global health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Washington. During her academic career, she served on several student and professional organization boards, including as secretary of the African Students’ Association at UW-Madison and as finance chair of the Master of Health Administration Student Association at the University of Washington.

Samantha Clark | MHA 2018

Samantha Clark is responsible for strategic planning and business development strategies for the MultiCare Behavioral Health Network, including designing virtual behavioral health service lines, growing partnerships and brick-and-mortar programs, and implementing new models of care. She’s also responsible for all behavioral health operations in MultiCare’s Inland Northwest Region, where she works closely with hospital, emergency department and medical group executives to improve patient access to integrated outpatient behavioral health care, improve safety and quality of care for inpatient and emergency department staff and patients, and align the region on evidence-best practice.

With a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Washington University and over a decade of community health and social work experience, Samantha can create change on a systemwide magnitude, which is a dream come true. In her time in the program, Samantha led University of Washington MHA case competition teams at Baylor University and University of Alabama at Birmingham, placing second out of 39 nationally accredited teams in 2017 and in the top 6 out of 42 teams in 2018.

Samantha received the first Dawn Gideon Foundation Honorarium and the Distinguished Presentation Scholarship in 2018. Continuing to support the incredible faculty and alumni of UW’s MHA program is deeply important to her. She continues to work with MHA students and candidates, serves as a guest lecture and provides mentorship wherever she can.

Hanna Dinh | MHA 2016

Hanna Dinh graduated from the University of Washington in 2014 with two bachelor’s degrees in public health and medical anthropology and global health. She then pursued her UW MHA graduate degree and completed her studies in 2016. After graduation, she started as a clinic manager for the Puyallup Clinic at Sea Mar Community Health Centers. She then transitioned into the Quality Department where she served as the quality/clinical outcomes manager for three years. The programs she oversaw included the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition certification; Meaningful Use; patient portal utilization; and cancer prevention for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings. Hanna is currently a project manager/internal consultant at UW Medicine where she provides project management services to support the successful development, evaluation, and implementation of key programs within UW Medicine’s Telehealth strategy. Hanna has experience in clinic operations, quality improvement, project management and leading multiple teams in various programs to meet quality and organizational goals.

Outside of UW Medicine, Hanna has stayed connected with the UW School of Public Health by serving as the alumni relations officer for the Public Health-Global Health Major Alumni Council from 2018 to 2020. She maintains a long involvement with Vietnam Health Clinic, a student-led nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care access in low-resource communities in Vietnam, while promoting proactive learning and firsthand experience in primary care for the student members. She also served as the student affairs director from 2020 to 2021 before transitioning to secretary on the board of directors. She brings her alumni, board, and student relations experience into the MHA Alumni Association Board to drive engagement with the student and alumni communities.

Collin Furukawa | Executive MHA 2014

Collin Furukawa is the strategy and business development officer at Kootenai Health. Based in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Kootenai Health is a regional health system serving patients from across the Inland Northwest and Panhandle of northern Idaho. As part of his role, Collin leads the organization’s strategic and financial planning activities. This work integrates planning and business development activities across the system, medical group, key service lines and ACO, as well as strategic partnerships. Collin also oversees the business and financial analytics function tasked with measuring profitability and performance of new and existing programs and services.

Prior to joining Kootenai Health, Collin worked at UW Medical Center in the Center for Clinical Excellence supporting quality improvement initiatives and providing clinical decision support. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Washington. In addition, Collin is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality from the National Association for Healthcare Quality.

Darian Harris | MHA 2016

I’ve recently accepted the exceptional opportunity to serve as the next CEO at Mills Peninsula Medical Center (Bay Area, CA). I’m truly honored and could not be more thrilled to join the amazing clinicians, caregivers, and leaders at Mills Peninsula Medical Center as well as our broader Sutter Health team!

Darian most recently served as the chief executive officer for Providence St. Joseph Hospital and Providence Redwood Memorial Hospital in Humboldt County where he had accountability for all quality, safety, physician and caregiver engagement, patient experience, strategic and business development, as well as the overall fiscal performance of both facilities. Prior to this role, he served as the chief executive officer for Providence’s Healdsburg and Petaluma Valley hospitals in Sonoma County.

Before joining Providence, Darian held a variety of operational and strategic health care roles at Kaiser Permanente (San Jose, CA) responsible for directing all operational, fiscal and strategic aspects of the pediatrics, OB/GYN and (regional) clinical genetics service lines across a multifacility service area. He also served as a director at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), responsible for overseeing all aspects of more than 18 jointly operated service lines and programs within the MGH/Southern New Hampshire Health System clinical affiliation portfolio.

Coupled with his extensive and diverse background successfully transforming team performance across industry leading academic, community, and value-based care environments, Darian is passionate about cultivating an engaged, collaborative, and empowered culture; investing in our people and emphasizing the need to bring joy back to pursuing care delivery excellence as a team. Darian also has a strong track record of developing innovative partnerships that deliver best-in-class quality and architecting high-value networks of care.

Darian was also recognized in 2022 by the North Bay Business Journal in their “Forty under 40” recognition series as a leader who has demonstrated unique leadership skills and impact early in his career.

He holds a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree in health services management from East Carolina University, where he returned as an adjunct professor focusing on health care operations management and patient flow. On the personal side, Darian’s wife (Dr. Amanda Harris) is a nurse practitioner, and they have two young children (Dominic and Adrian).

May Johnson | MHA 2009

Since graduating from the UW MHA program in 2009 and completing her administrative fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, May Johnson has spent the better part of the past 12 years working in hospital operations in the ambulatory setting. She spent six years as a clinic administrator at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland, Washington, working closely with providers and staff to solve problems, remove obstacles and create the best patient experience possible. In this role, May managed multiple clinics, including ENT, urology, urogynecology, gynecology, endocrinology, weight loss and bariatric care, wound care, infusion care and infectious disease care. She enjoys building teams, implementing organizational initiatives and supporting new programs and services.

Since June 2021, May has been a customer success manager for the CareConnect team at MultiCare Health System. She is very excited to be a part of this growing team, providing Epic and IT services to MultiCare’s partners in the Puget Sound and inland Northwest regions. May appreciates the opportunity to continue to serve on the board and stay engaged with current students and alumni.

Sam Rosu |MHA 2020

Sam Rosu is passionate about transforming healthcare with technology to better serve the needs of patients and clinicians. She recently started as the Professional Services Manager for Diligent Robotics, a healthcare robotics start-up based in Austin, TX.

Prior to that, Sam worked at MultiCare Health System as a Product Manager after completing an administrative fellowship with the system. As a Product Manager, Sam was responsible for a variety of digital health initiatives from creating a consumer-facing mobile app for MultiCare’s retail health division to partnering with Zipline on bringing drone delivery to support MultiCare’s growing footprint. She also continued to support MultiCare’s administrative fellowship program by volunteering as the Recruitment Chair.

Sam received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Washington. During her time in the MHA program, Sam served as the Vice President of the UW MHA Student Association and participated in multiple case competitions. She is excited to join the MHA Alumni Board to continue to strengthen Alumni/Student relations and better serve the UW MHA program.

Monica Salgaonkar |MHA 2016

Monica Salgaonkar is the Associate Director of Quality & Leadership Programs at the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA). Her work spans opioids, leadership development, wellness, and equity.

Her equity work is about developing best practices for culturally congruent care, in areas of reducing maternal mortality, increase early detection of colon cancer and endometrial cancer in those disproportionately affected by the health system.

She also manages the Better Prescribing, Better Treatment (BPBT) program, an opioid prescribing program aimed at promoting safe prescribing patterns across Washington state through transparent opioid reporting and clinic coaching. BPBT is in partnership with the WSMA, the Washington State Hospital Association, Department of Health and the Healthcare Authority.

She leads operations and strategy for the WSMA Center of Leadership Development alongside MHA alumnus Dr. Ed Walker. She helps ensure the physician community is well equipped to lead the health care organization, alongside their administrative counterparts. She has found that the involvement of physicians in leadership roles drives meaningful change.

Monica has a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of California, Riverside, and an MHA degree from the University of Washington. During her time in the program, Monica was involved as secretary of the MHA Student Association and education chair of the UW Institute for Health Care Improvement group. She currently serves in the MHA mentor program. She is passionate about advancing the next generation of health care leaders, through both mentorship and coaching.
